Description & mechanism
Melanotan I (afamelanotide) is a synthetic linear analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH) that acts at melanocortin receptors. It is used in research to investigate melanocortin-receptor pharmacology and melanogenesis signalling in melanocyte culture models.

Specifications
Handling, reconstitution & storage
Reconstitute the lyophilized solid in sterile water or bacteriostatic diluent to the desired working concentration; mix by gentle inversion and avoid vigorous agitation or repeated freeze-thaw. Sterile-filter (0.22 µm) if aseptic use is required, aliquot into single-use volumes, and store reconstituted material frozen at -20 °C.
